Thanks for a great session on Monday. I believe you have inspired the students. We had a nice wee session in the afternoon, and we talked about the coursework for the option. It’s beginning to dawn on them that they will have to combine science and business know-how over the next two weeks.
See people progress
Our objective was to empower the nurses to feel confident to speak up at their meetings… On the day, the organisation and professionalism of your company shone through. The pace was just right, you could see people progress as the day went on and as you promised it was lots of fun!!! The nurses who attended have raved about it to the nurses who didn’t get a place and they are all clamouring for us to do it again.
From my point of view it is doing exactly what I want it to do for the nurses but is also raising my company profile and giving us an advantage over our competitors and although I’ve done lots of communication and presentation skills courses in my time, I must say I got lots out of it personally. I’m still using the skills I got on the day which is unusual as you normally forget most of these courses as soon as you go back to you everyday life.

Talk through situations
The greatest help I feel, is the opportunity to talk through situations which appear very black and white when you are involved but with a more objective view are really all shades of grey.
This helps me to be more objective in dealing with every individual and I have learnt that there is always another side to look at things from I just need to ask the right question to uncover what is really going on.
I can always rely on an objective review and appraisal of issues that we discuss.
This helps to take the emotion out of any situation and see where the real issues lie, therefore allowing me to formulate a plan to deal with each situation with contingencies as most of the time this is dealing with people.
I find that very often Mags’ coaching highlights some information that I have not asked or explored to get the more complete picture.

It doesn’t matter where the problem lies in the business, Mags has a vast range of experience, from new ideas to tools and even ways to deal with problems in your own mind. Mags brings a wonderful skill in that she challenges me to think differently about how I deal with stressors in the workplace, and how I can implement strategies and ideas. She’s very intuitive, she really gets and understands me.

The benefit of the one to one is accountability. The one to one I have with Mags, I take responsibility. Things I promise that I can get things done so that every time I promise that I will make improvement in the business is being noted. I think I would do in the next session it makes me do things. It makes me discuss issues I am having on a personal level. It gives me more insight into business, staffing and how to deal with that so I really benefit from the one to one.
